Arrival, Airport, and new Friends!

Finally here! We were all so shocked!! Looking back at how long ago we started planning and we are finally on DR land! Going through customs and airport security was very easy, no problem at all! Once outside we had to find our new friend! The good friend who helped us find a place to stay and provided transportation...RICHARD! He is the brother with the red shirt. He came in his taxi vehicle along with 2 other brothers , David and Edwin. David brought his taxi as well to pick us up since there was 5 of us and luggage. Diane, is the 6th person in our group but she had already arrived on a different flight 2 days before us since she flew standby. Even though Daniel and myself have talked to Richard multiple times...seeing him was just awesome!!! All the brothers who came to pick us up are so sweet and kind! Richard didn't hesitate then to take us somewhere to eat! We chose our own fish and waited for our first DR meal! Afterwards they gave us a huge bowl with water and soap to wash our hands! haha ...food So DELICIOSO! These brothers are so funny! Richard goes to a Spanish hall. Edwin the brother with the white shirt is from ASL and in the same congregation we will be at. David is the the tall brother with the black shirt who also serves in the ASL but different congregation. The brothers also took us to the beach but just to see it and brought us to our apartment. Getting to know each Other and So much laughter along the way!! Even though they use American Sign Language here there is some Spanish influence and some signs are bit different but we have no problem adapting and learning! The brothers too love to see the signs we use...it's not a huge difference just a handful of signs that are a bit different. Richard is so loving! On his phone he has pictures of all the brothers he has helped when they come visit! We even recognized some of them since some are from Dallas and Fort Worth! How funny! Definitely our first day was really nice!
