This morning we went to service with San Juan ASL congregation, we walked as usual but really cool many sisters here have a motorcycle or moped. The hall looks very similar to ours in Santo Domingo. We got to meet some of the congregation, we met a family last name Ceda. The parents used to be special pioneers prior to becoming parents. Now they live here with their 2 daughters, they are originally from Puerto Rico but have lived here for almost 20+ years. They were informing us that all 4 are US citizens but are preparing all documents to be citizens here in DR. So encouraging because of course many single or married brothers and sisters move to serve where need it great, but it's even more encouraging for me to see an entire family. Think of how much they sacrifice: home, school, money and much more. It's a lot of work to do it alone but multiply that times 4 plus the girls are young ...wow! What an example!
In service we did whats called "searching for the deaf". Pretty much just like it sounds, the territories that aren't completed yet we go around knocking on doors asking the people if they know anyone in the area that are deaf. They way we can get the right information and include it in the territory.
It is so pretty here, the mountains surround the city and the weather is beautiful! The sun is harsh but because of the mountains there is a cool breeze.
San Juan needs lots of help here! Anyone interested don't hesitate to ask!
I also included a picture of a house under construction/ being built because if you notice they are made of cement, different from Texas house right? We have insulation, wood, brick, and much more but here made of concrete! And no AC systems!
